June 26, 2010!!!

So...what's everyone doing June 26th?? :) because Lisa is getting hitched! Scott and I have both known for a little while that we wanted to be married to each other, and we just made it official!

For those of you who don't know the Scott and Lisa story...here is a little glimpse :) We grew up together. I grew up in Raleigh, NC and Scott spent part of his growing up years in Fayetteville, NC. Our dads are both in the turkey business, and our families went on family vacations to the annual turkey meetings almost every year. Scott's family moved to Moroni, UT when he was 13. We came to Utah almost every summer, and we would stop and see the Bagleys. When I was 19 my family moved to Mona, UT (about 30 minutes from Moroni). We met up and starting dating July 4, 2007. Scott had his mission call for our church to serve for two years in the Peru Lima North Mission, the best mission on earth (did I get that right, Scott? :) ). We dated until September 3, 2007, and he left to serve the people in Peru. We wrote to each other faithfully over the next two years, and when he got home September 9, 2009, I was waiting for him. We started to date again, and it was like he never left (even though we both agree we are different now :) ). But it's always been right :)

Phew, did you make it through all that? :) SO...on Valentine's Day this last year Scott told me that he was sorry because he was writing a poem for Valentine's Day, and it just wasn't finished yet. He was just too busy...which I agreed with, so I told him it was totally fine! So this past Tuesday night he told me he had finally finished the poem, and he would bring it to me on Wednesday.

Wednesday night rolled around and Scott stopped by. Lisa was totally oblivious (shocker), and I was just chatting away. Scott finally said, "hey...do you want to read the poem?" I said of course, and he told me I had to read it out loud. It was two pages long about all of the times and experiences we have shared with each other, and when I got to the last page the last two lines were cut out...here is a picture :)

I looked up and said, "Umm...then there is a part cut out." Scott got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. (He had memorized the last two lines of the poem. :) )

I had talked to Scott before about it all, and I wanted time to talk with the Lord and figure out if this is what he wanted for me and Scott. So needless to say, Lisa didn't get a lot of sleep that night (and I'm not sure Scott did either)! I woke up with an answer, and I went to find Scott! He was in his 7:30 Math class, so I headed to Snow College campus. I kind of pulled him out of class :), told him the good news, and we went to celebrate! The next few pictures were taken when we got back to my apartment :)

That night we decided to get ice cream from Wal-Mart and drive to the Manti Temple (where we will be married on June 26th) to talk about what was ahead. :) The next few pictures are from that adventure..

Black Forest Cake

This weekend was fairly uneventful, but Scott and I decided one night to make Black Forest Cake! Scott loves black forest cake, and let's face it, Lisa likes anything with chocolate. Needless to say, it was a win-win situation. :) It was an adventure...but at least it tasted amazing! (Jules--thanks again for the recipe. :) )

Last summer I got on this canning kick! There was a cherry orchard about 10 miles from our house at The Red Barn. They were selling their cherries for .99 cents a pound if you went and picked them off the trees yourself, so my Mom, Dad, and I went and picked 3- 5 gallon buckets full of them. About seven hours later we had pitted them all and then began canning!

So I took canned cherries and I thickened them with corn starch...on the stove...for the cake. Long story short (not that that side story wasn't long enough to get through :) ), hot cherries and cold whipping cream do not mix :) It was literally a hot mess!

The finished product! We ended up just dumping some cherries on top of the whole thing, so we wouldn't melt any more whipping cream :) It was a fun experiment!

Valentine's Day!

Scott thought I should do this post yesterday after the other one...but I figured the next day was just as good. :) Scott and I spent all of Valentine's together! He had to speak in the Sanpitch 1st Ward, so we went there in the morning! We headed back to my place and made homemade nachos for lunch. We watched Legacy and one Sunday nap later we got a call from Holly! We went and met Jake, Em, and Holly (Scott's siblings) at the Manti Temple to take pictures. Scott and I agreed these aren't the best pictures of us (scratch that. just Lisa. :) ), but it's the memories that count! :) Here are a few...
Yes, I am also aware of how gaggerific/cheesy those were...but it's us :) After the temple, we drove back to Ephraim. Scott and I planned a Peruvian dinner (because that's where Scott served his mission). Here are some pictures of us cooking!

The finished product: bistec a lo pobre :) It's steak, rice, fried egg, fried banana, and avacado...it was really good! The night ended with making eating chocolate chip oatmeal cookies dipped in chocolate milk and playing Phase 10. All in all, it was the perfect Valentine's Day :)

February 13th

Being Valentine's Day was on a Sunday (how lame is that?), we mostly celebrated on February 13th! We were trying to think of some really cool ideas that we could do to celebrate...but we were struggling. We finally decided that the best way to show love on Valentine's Day was to show it to others, so we made 12 posterboard valentines to deliver to senior citizen apartments in Moroni! We didn't realize how long it would take to cut out those hearts. (Oh, and did I mention what a professional heart cutter Scott was? :) ) Here are some pictures!

After decorating valentines, we met Holly and Emily (Scott's siblings) to go see "Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief". Scott and I both thought it was really good, but I guess if you read the book it's kind of a let down. :) I thought it was good though...so that's all that matters! After the movie (I have a movie theatre two blocks down from me), Scott and I walked back to my place and we headed to The Snow Dragon for the best chinese food in Ephraim (mainly because it's the only place...but it's really good!) But the last shot is of Scott and I before we headed out for the night!

Sweetheart's Ball

Well, yesterday the Ephraim Institute held their Valentine's dance which is called the Sweetheart's Ball! Scott and I decided this last week that it would be fun to get dressed up, go, and dance the night away! :) It was a ton of fun, and here are a few pictures of the fun. Enjoy! :)
