January Happenings!

January has been a whirlwind of a month! I can hardly believe that we only have a few days left in the month!

The first week of January, during nap time, Macey pulled poop out of her diaper and smeared it all over her pack-n-play THREE different times. In a week! I had the stomach flu in the middle of this, and I had the hardest time cleaning up that mess! Every time it happened, I broke down sobbing. Macey and I had long talks about keeping poop in her diapers...and then we had problems the next day.

So, I did some online research. Evidently, this is semi-normal for Macey's demographic. This behavior is also found in toddlers who are ready to potty train. Oh, boy! I was no where near potty training Macey! I had written it off until she was 3...and I was okay with that. However, I was not okay with the poop smearing, so I decided to try it!

Success! For three days. She loved her princess panties, and she cried at the thought of wearing diapers. And then...she got my stomach flu. For 5 days. It was miserable! We had to go back to diapers because she couldn't make it to the bathroom. So, we are back to square one, but we are ready to tackle potty training again this week!

With all the sickness going around (did I mention Cooper got the stomach flu the day after Macey finished with it? And it lasted 5 days as well? Or did I mention that Scott had a cold/flu in the middle of all of this?) we survived for a couple weeks. We ate simple meals, surface cleaned, and stuck around home quite a bit! (So ignore the mess in all of these pictures!)

We spent a lot of time watching movies and doing this:

Cooper continued to be mischievous! He loves toilet paper...especially unrolling it. Our bathroom doors stay shut at all times. Unfortunately, it sometimes doesn't shut all the way and we have a mess! (Love his cow-lick!)

And Cooper has continued to climb. He loves the couch. One afternoon, it was quiet, and I found Cooper sitting on the couch with an open book and blanket.

This boy is trouble!

Cooper keeps me on my toes. He is a climber. He climbs on EVERYTHING! The first day I caught him climbing, I was doing dishes. I realized I could hear Macey playing, but I couldn't hear Cooper anymore. Suspicious, I went looking for him. I actually looked right past him the first time I went looking for him. When I stumbled on him again, he was giggling, standing on top of a tupperware.

Oh, boy! And so, it begins. :)

Cooper is 1!

Cooper's first birthday was on January 2nd. I still have a hard time believing that Cooper has been with us a year--where did all that time go?!

Unfortunately, Cooper's birthday was also the first day Scott had to go back to school. We all woke up as usual this morning, and the kids and I got breakfast. (Did I mention that I have some pretty cute kids? :) )

The day before his birthday, we went up to Sanpete to pick up our new couch and chairs (thanks again, Holly!) and Cooper got to open up a few of his birthday gifts. The kids played with the new gifts the majority of the day.

While the kids napped, I made Cooper's cake. Next time, I'm making a cake in a 9 x 13 pan! I spent a good three hours making this cake. It turned out like I wanted...it just wasn't worth the time I invested! (After looking at the cake, someone asked if Cooper likes lions. I just stared at them (because he is only one, right?), and finally said, "he does today!")

I was the mean mom who took Cooper to his 1 year doctor's appointment on his birthday. He got 6 shots (poor boy!) and we waited an hour for the doctor. We were so anxious to get home, open presents, eat dinner, and eat cake. (Okay, okay...maybe that was just me :) )

Dinner and then cake time! We thought Cooper would love his cake, and we weren't disappointed! Cooper demolished his cupcake. (And his did demolished every other cupcake he had several days after his birthday!)

Choosing to add Cooper to our family was one of the best decisions we have ever made! He has brought us all so much happiness and laughter! We are so grateful he is a part of our family!

This just happened. I heard Cooper crying out a little so I went over to his door to listen and make sure everything was okay. I heard Macey get out of bet, her little feet patter over to his crib, and with her tired voice say "Shhh, shhh, it ok Coop, it ok. Shhh shhh. Night night. (kiss)" You are raising her right Lisa Christensen Bagley

In the past two weeks...I had the stomach flu (for 4 days...), during nap time Macey spread her poop on her pack-n-play (3 different times), Cooper switched from formula to cow's milk, Macey had the stomach flu (for 5 days...), we potty trained Macey (although, thanks to the stomach flu, it's still going on--almost there!), we switched Cooper from a bottle to a sippy cup, a part on our furnace broke, Scott has been applying to graduate school, countless loads of laundry have been done, toys have been scattered, toys have been put away, meals have been made, sleep has semi-existed, and I am officially ready for a three day weekend!!! Anyone else? 

Christmas with Families

We got to go spend all of Christmas Eve day with my family in Mona. My dad had to work part of the day, and we wanted him to be there when the kids opened presents so we waited for him to get home. He got home a  little after 1:30, but Cooper was a disaster and needed a nap. He went down right before he got there. We just decided to do presents with Macey, and when Cooper woke up, we would do presents with him!

Macey loved the presents! She continually asked "mine?" before she opened presents.

Aunt Amy made activity bags for both kids. She had packed them full of things that the kids love--it was awesome!

And then...we stopped taking pictures! Cooper did finally wake up and open presents. The Cutts family spoiled our family this year!! Scott and I opened presents as well, and we had a lot of fun surprises! The older you get, the more you don't expect too much for Christmas :)

After an incredible meal, we helped to put out luminaries! (So Santa could find his way to grandma and grandpa's house!) Macey loved putting them together, and she knew exactly how they were made! We didn't take into account how much further north Mona was than Monroe--it was cold!! We bundled up in my parent's extra jackets and gloves :)

The next day was Christmas Day. We had a laid back morning, and we waited until Scott's eldest brother and family got there to open any presents. They got there about noon, right after Cooper's nap, and we were ready to open gifts!

During Cooper's afternoon nap, Scott took Macey around the corner to show her the Dusty Crophopper replica from "Planes". She thought the plane was cool, but she loved going out for a walk with dad!

We loved being able to spend so much time with family, but we are looking forward to calmer Christmas, close to home the next several years!
