Temples and Turkeys

The day after the Nathan Pacheco concert was Stake Conference Temple Night! Because Scott's family lives about 20 minutes from the Manti Temple, we were able to drop them all off at their house and run to the temple! It was a great night, and our love for each other and The Savior was renewed.

We got out of the temple kind of late, so we decided to just stay the night in Moroni. In the morning, Scott, Grandpa Bagley, Macey and Cooper were able to go out and check some turkeys. It does my heart some good to see the kids in turkey sheds. :) It also did my heart some good to hear that Macey was not as in to the experience as Cooper was. She takes after her mother. :)

Nathan Pacheco

Scott and I were able to have a date night a couple weeks ago, and it was amazing! Nathan Pacheco gave a concert at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield. Scott and I bought tickets a couple months in advance. If you don't know who Nathan is yet, feel free to check him out here.

I know, I know. You're welcome.

If it would have been appropriate, I'm fairly confident I would have sent up a few Hallelujah shouts during his performance. I have listened to Josh Groban since high school (and know all of his songs...). Nathan is more of a tenor than Josh, but his voice is just as beautiful. I'll stop. Just take my word for it...it was awesome!

He came and spoke at the seminary a couple days before the performance. Scott may have been a little star struck, and when Nathan came up to Scott and talked to him after the performance, I had to hold Scott's hand and lead him to the car. But, let's be honest, who can blame him?!

We asked 6 different people to babysit for us, and because of Prom practice, sports, and everyone going to the concert, they all fell through! Thankfully, Scott's sister Holly was able to drive down after a job interview that day!

I had had an incredibly hard week, and this concert healed this girls soul! (Cheap balcony seats or not! :) )

There was one song where he invited the high school students to come lead the audience in a chorus. Scott's student Lexi ran up on stage, and she was able to help! She is the second from the left!

Santa Bear

One of my first Christmases, in 1989, Santa got me this big stuffed bear. I guess the story is that I fell in love with it in the store, and Santa couldn't bear to see us leave the store with out it! So this is what I got in Christmas of 1989. This bear has been a part of my life since then! In fact, I remember him going in a trash bag in the top of my closet during all three bouts our family had with lice. He has been a good bear to me.

When we got our own house, my mom dropped all my old stuff off, and I went through it. In one of the boxes was "Santa Bear". No one has really been interested in it until Cooper. Cooper loves Santa Bear! He sleeps with Santa Bear every night, and he cries if it is not with him. Santa Bear plays with him on a daily basis as well!

Recently, Cooper has gotten some competition, though. Jemma loves Santa Bear! She gut laughs and crawls as fast as she can until she gets to him. Usually, she then buries her face in the bear, giggling, and then gives it a huge hug.

With all the love going around, sometimes I wish I were Santa Bear!

My Macey

I sure love Macey! She and I butt heads quite often, but we love each other through it all. She is SO spunky and independent! I never know what to expect from her. Remember that awesome preschool worksheet where she said she loved to take cold baths? Well, this worksheet came home from preschool the other day, and it made me laugh. This answer is TOTALLY a Macey answer!

Macey only does things she wants to do. Most of the time that results in her creating and saying funny things. Sometimes, her stubbornness pushes me a little over the edge. A couple weeks ago, we found out that Macey was going to have a surprise dance performance at the High School. I knew Scott had to take the youth in our ward to the temple that night, but I thought Macey would LOVE this! Last time, she loved getting dressed up, curling her hair, putting on make up and dancing. So...I decided I could do this again on my own with 3 little kids under 3 years old. It would totally be worth it!

It was such a hard day, which was probably my major problem! I spent 2 hours getting Macey ready for this. I made dinner for all the kids and we ate and bathed Jemma before we left. We got out the door early, and I had my back pack filled with bribes and snacks for the younger two. We got to the high school 20 minutes early, and the parking lot was packed! We ended up being the last to park in the seminary parking lot, and we all held hands and headed to the high school. I immediately took all three kids to the bathroom (where about 20 girls were trying to look into one bathroom mirror to get ready). All four of us packed into a small bathroom stall (I didn't know that was possible!), and Macey and Cooper used the potty. We met up with Macey's dance teacher. I gave Macey a pep talk. She was so excited, and she seemed fine that I was leaving. The entire bottom section of bleachers was packed, so Cooper, Jemma and I headed to the balcony. We got a seat, and we sat and waited. Jemma screamed for 30 minutes straight. Cooper was such a good kid! I could have kissed him all night long! He sat right next to me and talked. When people danced, he would go take a look and yell and clap.

I was so excited for Macey! Then she came out and I got the whole thing on camera. She was visibly upset about something. In fact, she was so upset that she dropped her head and scowled the ENTIRE time! I thought she would get into the dance and start moving with the other girls. She just stared. All the other girls held hands and left the stage, and there stood Macey. Luckily, the girl standing next to her came back and brought her off!

I won't lie, I was a totally disappointed. I had done so much to get all three kids ready for this! I know that's totally selfish of me to say, but it's true. I went and picked Macey up after the dance, and after a lot of prodding, she told me she didn't dance because she didn't get to stand by her friend CharlyAnn. I told her that she still could of danced, and I was so sad that I didn't get to see her dance. Macey could sense I was upset, so she planted her feet. She refused to walk with me to the car. She planted her feet right outside the school. I had a screaming Jemma in the carseat and Cooper walking beside me. She refused to hold hands with anyone. There were people driving in and out and through the parking lot, so I knew she had to at least stick close while we were walking. Finally, with much screaming/crying/looks from strangers she screamed and cried as she walked 10 steps behind me. She refused to sit in her booster seat or hook her seat belt. It was totally rough on this mom, who already had a hard day. It ended with Macey and I curled up crying together on her bed. She wrapped her little arms around my neck and told me she loved me. I did the same. I just cried in her little arms and kept apologizing for being hard on her.

Scott didn't get home until 9:30--well after the kids went to sleep. I was still visibly upset about the whole thing, but after watching the video, we decided we would laugh at this one day.

The next day, Scott came home and told me how cute everyone thought Macey was. With all the frustrations, I didn't realize how her spunky personality came off. I was so concerned about her dancing that I missed the fact that it was okay that three year old Macey was stubborn!

I do love her so much! She knows exactly what to say to push my buttons, to make me laugh, or to make things better.

Something else I love about Macey is her imagination. She and her dad have the biggest imaginations and come up with the biggest stories. She loves to create story lines for her brother and sister during the day. When her dad gets home, they create the biggest stories and have the greatest adventures! One day she even made a library in Jemma's room!

Macey has always been about a head taller than the other kids. I was the exact same way when I was little, and it does this mom's heart some good to see that Macey is following her mom's footsteps! She doesn't look that big, but compared with other kids her age, she looks older. She has always been off the charts at the pediatrician's office. She wears size 7 girls clothes (and she is only 3!). I bought a size 6x/7 leotard for dance class, and it got to the point that it wasn't covering the places it should be. :) My mom graciously bought her a 8/10 leotard. The first time she put it on, she exclaimed, "Oh sank you mommy!" and gave me a giant hug! Even her dance outfit (that she wears for performances) was also too little, but after talking with her dance teacher, we were able to order a size up for the next outfit.

Macey sure does look adorable in her new leotard, though! Who would have thought that my three year old could look so adorable in 8/10 clothing?!

Super Cooper

This boy makes me laugh. He doesn't even need to try. I think he has the cutest personality. I mean, wouldn't you laugh, if you walked in the room to find this? :)

Jemma Jammer!

We love sweet Jemma--all of us do! I'm afraid I don't talk about her enough on the blog or I don't take enough pictures of her. She got her first tooth today! At 7.5 months (which is a record for our crew! Macey got hers at 3 months and Cooper at 4 months). She has been gumming rice crackers for about a month, and I'm excited that she will have teeth to work on food in the coming months!

Jemma is always happy. Seriously. She is quiet. Sometimes, you forget she is there, and you will flip around to find her looking at you. She will immediately break out into a grin, like you are her favorite person in the world. She melts my heart quiet a bit!

She has been doing a cheesy grin quite a bit lately, and it's probably one of my favorite faces. It makes me laugh every time!

Jemma scoots/crawls everywhere! When she pauses for a break or when someone gets her attention, she turns like this on her side. We call it her bathing beauty pose!

I love this stage! It's probably my favorite. Whenever Jemma sees me walk into a room, she immediately begins to crawl toward me. She climbs up me until I pick her up...which doesn't take long!

She has started climbing all over things. She is not as bad as Cooper was, but she will climb over everything to get what she wants. Example: over Macey's quiet box to get Cooper's Avenger from Macey.

Jemma loves to quietly play with toys. She finds a toy and busily plays until someone needs her again!

Jemma brightens our lives and our home! We couldn't have planned a better time for Jemma to be a part of our family!

Personality!

Personality? This kid has it! He hates pants, loves his undies, and loves his shoes. This is his outfit most days!

For Valentine's Day, Scott interviewed the kids and made a video for me. He asked the kids their favorite part about me. Macey told Scott that her favorite thing about me is (when Cooper sleeps) we cuddle on the couch and watch "Ponies" together. It took me by surprise! I didn't know doing that meant that much to her, so I make sure every time Cooper naps, we cuddle and watch "My Little Pony" together.

The Day the Power Went Out...

So it has been a warm, weird winter! We hadn't had a good snow fall in a LONG time...like all winter! After Scott having to shovel sidewalks and stairwells almost everyday for 2 years (besides the one month it is spring, summer and fall) in Idaho, he feels like this is the welcome break (Even 3 years later)!

I have stopped checking the weather because I just can just count on it being warm. In fact, one week before this storm, I pulled out the kids shorts and summer clothes!

I planned on going to Wal-Mart at 6 in the morning the day of the snow storm. I knew if I went then, I could go kidless, and I could be back before Scott had to go to work. That night, our power went off a couple times, but I didn't think anything of it. I walked out the door at 6 AM to find snow EVERYWHERE! There was about 6" of it...more than we had had all winter! It was coming down hard, but we only had 1/4 gallon of milk, 1/4 can of formula, no bread, and no eggs. I was one of the only crazies on the road...which is good because I hydroplaned several times.

I did my shopping, came home, and Scott went to work. I had just gotten all the kids dressed for the day, when the power went out at 8 AM. And...it didn't come back on...and it was still snowing...and the heat was going down in our house.

We ended up having peanut butter sandwiches and milk for breakfast. I didn't realize how much we used power! (Did I mention no one had clean clothes that day, and I had just put in my first load of laundry when the power went out?)

I decided to take the kids out in the snow, and that was an adventure! Macey's boots were too small, and they kept falling off. We changed her socks 4 times!! All while holding Jemma in my arms and Cooper needing his gloves put back on. We had fun, though! It was Jemma's first time out in the snow. She kept throwing her body back in the snow and then gut laughing. When she realized she couldn't roll and move in her giant snow suit, she would start crying. It was a funny cycle!

(Oh, and can we talk about how long it takes to get 3 kids ready for snow, plus one adult, compared to how long the kids lasted in the snow?!)

We came back inside to no heat or warm water to bathe in. We took all the kids' clothes off, and we went and bundled up. Scott came home from work a little after noon because they had no power, and the district decided to just cancel school for the day. Because they stayed until 11:00, they were able to count it as a real day and we did not need a make-up day. Although, they stayed in 1st hour the entire time, and after a lesson, they had a rock-paper-scissor tournament (bracket and all) the rest of the day!

We opted out of peanut butter sandwiches again for lunch, and we went and got dollar menu from McDonalds and cupcakes from Sugar Bean Bakery!

After lunch, Scott made a giant fort. After a long day, which started entirely too early, I proceeded to climb into the fort and fall asleep (Scott documented it)! Scott let me sleep (and Jemma sleep) and he entertained the kiddos!

Our power came back on around 4:00, and it only got down to 62 degrees in our house! Laundry immediately started and went well into the night! But we all had a fun-filled snow day!
