Scott's Birth to the Earth Day!

Last Sunday was Scott's birthday. Pretty day, huh?

I was SO excited! (Sadly, partly because Scott is now my age again :) ) Birthdays have and always will be a big deal in our family, so I had to carry on the tradition!

The morning of August 22, I woke Scott up bright and early at 6:30. I stayed up late the night before decorating the house: blowing up balloons, hanging streamers, and putting out presents. This is Scott that morning:

Right after opening presents I made him french toast and bacon, we got ready for church, and headed off! Because we could hardly wait for what happened after church, before church I had everything prepared so I could make Scott's birthday dinner: Lasagna, green salad, and garlic bread--it was all an adventure to make, but it turned out so well!! See?

I also made Scott a birthday cake. Scott loves anything with cherries, so I made him Black Forest Cake: Devil's Food Cake, Real Whipped Cream, and Homemade Pie Cherries. Yum. And what good is a birthday without candles?

We wanted something to do to celebrate, so we headed to Mesa Falls! It's in between Ashton and Island Park, so it wasn't a far drive :)

My Favorite Niece

Eden Jane. I sure do love this girl. She could do any thing, and I would think it was the cutest thing I have ever seen. Tom, Julie, and Eden came out for our wedding, and I took this video when she was here.

I watch this about every other day, so I thought I would share it :)

Bear Lake!

Man, life has been busy lately! Working an 8-5 job was/has been an adjustment for me...maybe that makes me pathetic :) It's been kind of exciting to stay busy though!

We were able to go the last few days to Bear Lake--it was WONDERFUL! I don't think I have enjoyed a vacation this much in a long time. The water at Bear Lake is SO blue--see?

One thing working 8-5 has done to me is screw up my sleeping schedule. Even on vacation I couldn't sleep past 7:30. The best part was watching the sun rise, in my pajamas, on the deck--I would wake up early to do that ANY day.

We have been going to Bear Lake annually for the Christensen side of the family-family reunion. One day, while we are there, we always rent a boat. We loaded up a pick-up truck and headed down to the marina! Scott and I :)

Our vacation was only for a couple of days, but it was like heaven :) Bear Lake is definitely a do-again trip for next year!

Peru Party!

Scott loves Peru. Any chance he can get to slip it in to conversation, he can do it...I promise you :) Scott served a mission for our church in the Peru Lima North Mission. He has been home for 11 months--crazy! On Saturday there was a reunion party in Morgan, Utah. We live 3.5 hours away from Morgan, but I don't think Scott would have missed this party for anything

It was a potluck, so I decided to brave it, and I made alfajores (peruvian cookies). I SO wished mine looked this good. (Thank you, google images :) )

Seriously so Blessed

A while ago, my sister introduced me to this blog named Seriously so Blessed. It's really entertaining to read, especially if you are...cough...familiar with the atypical Utah/Idaho girl. :) When I was thinking about what to name this post, this is all I came up with. I was a Utah girl for 3 years, and now I have moved up to Idaho for at least another two...I guess I can slip into the stereotype :)

Scott and I moved to Rexburg, Idaho last Saturday. With the help of our amazing families and a Uhaul we managed to move all my (yes, the majority of it was mine. Scott moved in to my place with a suitcase and a box of books...) junk.

On Sunday (after all the unpacking), Scott passed out on the couch. (Holly, I told you Scott loves that blanket as much as I do. I turned around, and he was passed out with the Cheetah blanket on him... :) )

I lived here in Rexburg for about 2.5 years, and it feels so surreal to be back...I don't know how to describe it. Right after we got engaged, we started to talk about where we wanted to end up. I officially graduated from Utah State University with my Bachelors May 8th, and Scott graduated from Snow College, in Ephraim, UT, with his Associates, May 1st. I decided that I would go anywhere he was. He applied to several schools, we both prayed, and to Rexburg we went!

Neither of us planned on this move. Truthfully and sadly, Rexburg wasn't at the top of our list, but we felt like it was REALLY right.

A couple of months before the move we were called in and offered an apartment in one of the most beautiful married complexes in Rexburg. With the call, I was offered a full time job as one of the Assistant Managers (a WELL paying, full time job with health benefits), and Scott was offered a full/part time job helping out with maintenance (he can work and go to school).

Everything has worked out perfectly for us so far. We started work on Monday, and we are loving everything!

We took our road less traveled by, and it truly has made all the difference. :)
