Eye Doctor Appointments!

I found out that our Wal-Mart was having a health fair day--where there were a bunch of freebies for eye appointments. Macey hadn't had an eye appointment in 1.5 years, and I had been contemplating having Cooper go for appointment before Kindergarten. (With his Kindergarten Registration, his doctor gave him a quick eye exam and noted his vision seemed mildly off and suggested getting it checked out.)

We came to Wal-Mart to find the movie "Coco" and the kids got bags of popcorn to eat while waiting!

Macey went first! We knew that she had an astigmatism in one of her eyes (which prompted glasses to begin with). Best case scenario, with glasses, her vision would improve, and she wouldn't need glasses anymore. Both Scott and my families have a strong family history for astigmatisms, so we figured she wouldn't grow out of it. We found out at the appointment that her one astigmatism has gotten worse and she has developed an astigmatism in the other eye. She has also developed a little near sightedness (so she can't see far away).

This meant that Macey's dream came true--and she got to try on all those glasses! When we were all done, we picked out a couple pairs of glasses for her. (Because, if we have learned anything, it is that there needs to be a back up pair of glasses!) Thankfully, because of their health fair, it meant 10 percent off glasses, and an additional 20 percent off the second!

The doctor looked at the inside of Macey's eyes, and he said that he could tell she had allergies as well! (Scott and Jemma both have bad allergies, so it looked like Macey inherited that too.)

Next, it was Cooper's turn. (Can I first say how well Cooper knew those letters?! He read the eye charts so well!)

The good news is that Cooper doesn't need glasses...at least he doesn't need them this year! Cooper is starting to develop an astigmatism in one of his eyes as well. It is a slight one, and with family history, the eye doctor said he wouldn't be surprised if it developed into one! He recommended we come back for those recommended yearly check ups. He told me it isn't affecting his vision yet, so he didn't think glasses were a necessity.

He looked into Cooper's eyes, and he said his eyes looked swollen because of allergies too. Darn allergies!

Macey and Cooper each got a balloon and lens leaner for their glasses. Each kid also got sticky hands...that then proceeded to stick to every surface in Wal-Mart. (Insert shudder here.)

It was a fun, productive, rewarding day for some eye exams!

Bouncy House

We have some pretty great neighbors! The Jones' rent out bouncy houses for parties. They had them drying out on their front lawns, and they invited the kids over to play for a little bit!

Lucy and Quinn

Lucy and Quinn have such a fun relationship! They love playing and joking around with each other. Quinn has always been a jokester, and Lucy is now joining in--it is great! On this certain night, Quinn was running all over the place, hiding, and making Lucy giggle.

This boy will NOT stay away from my make up bag. He immediately regretted his decision to put on my Covergirl long-lasting lipstick on his eyes like eye shadow. It was on for a solid 24 hours (well done, Covergirl). Today, my quick Quinn applied fingernail polish to his face and accidentally got some in his eyes. That was a fun one.

A Lazy Sunday

The day after Scott's busy Youth Conference day was a lazy Sunday. It was completely perfect, and the kids loved just spending time with their dad.

Scott gave these two giggling kids rides around the family room in the laundry basket.

It was all fun and games until it wasn't anymore. Poor Lucy.

A Lazy Saturday

Scott is a counselor in our stake YM presidency, and this year, our stake was in charge of a quad-stake Youth Conference. They have been planning this since he was put in this calling, and the day was as crazy as was anticipated!! While he was emceeing the event, dealing with broken swamp coolers, figuring out what to do with all the outdoor activities that were now rained out, getting kids where they needed to be (breaking up couples that were making out ;)), and trying to keep the energy alive, he came home with a plate of cookies and no voice. I guess that means it was a successful day!

While dad was away, we had a laid back day at home. It was raining, so it was a day spent indoors. We finally escaped in the afternoon for ice cream cones from McDonalds. I made dinner, and then we followed up with a joint bath in mom's giant bath tub. The kids were angels and went to sleep/stayed to sleep early. 

Quick Trip North!

We needed to make a Sam's Club trip, so we decided to make a day trip out of it! First stop was Cubby's for lunch!

I realized, when planning this, that I had never been to the BYU Creamery in Provo. The kids were totally on board for checking it out, so off we went to find some dessert.

The day ended with us shopping our hearts out and chugging cheap drinks at Sam's Club!

Lucy and the Dishwasher

My kids have all LOVED the dishwasher. Lucy is no different! She hears the door opening, and her little legs take off crawling toward the kitchen.

My Jemma

Me: "Jemma, look at me, so I can take a picture of you!"

Me: "Hey, your eyes are still closed--open them!!"

PERFECT!
