Our New Chapter

I have this horrible habit. I look forward to things in the future WAY too much! I look forward to, plan, get excited for, plan some more...until the future is here. By the time the future is here, I wonder how in the world I spent the past. The future comes too quickly!

The move to Rexburg was an easy decision to make. Scott and I just felt so good about everything, that we didn't doubt it's correctness. We watched the blessings pour upon us the entire time we were here.

We were blessed with great jobs, finding the seminary program, Scott getting on fastgrad (which resulted in earlier graduation), finding out we were expecting Macey, figuring out we could afford Macey, watching Scott succeed in school (even when he was beyond burned out!), Feeling prompted that I should quit work and stay at home with Macey full time, Macey blessing our home in June, watching money fade quicker than we expected but surviving, finding an extra $40 in our bank account when I knew the money wasn't there previously (this happened a couple times), family that made sure we had meat in our freezer when we struggled, Scott graduating from BYU-Idaho, and finally finding out that he had been hired as a seminary teacher.

We have been so incredibly blessed. We have also been incredibly taught. We know, because we did the right thing and moved to Idaho, that the Lord has blessed us. We have not only survived, but we have thrived because we were obedient, and He watched over us.

We are approaching a new chapter in our lives, and I am scared to death. I was thinking back on our decision to move to Idaho (SO far away from family and friends) and all the blessings that have come since then. I was scared then too, but so much good has come!

We found out last week that we are moving to Richfield, Utah! Scott has the possibility of teaching at 3 different schools: North Sevier High School, Richfield High School, and South Sevier High School (Salina, Richfield, and Monroe).

I am excited! Richfield is closer to family (a little over an hour away). Richfield is the exact size of town that I wanted to live in. Richfield has every fast food chain you could want along with Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Dollar Tree and Maurices. It's basically Rexburg...in Utah (minus the student population).

Within 2 days from finding out we were moving to Richfield, we found an apartment to live in temporarily, put a bid on a house (AHH...still crazy to think about.), and went to SLC for a new hire meeting.

We had 2 days of meetings in Salt Lake City to be trained as new seminary teachers/wives. It was overwhelming, but immediately, I felt the reassurance that the Lord will always take care of us.

Grandmas watched Macey Tuesday and Wednesday, so we got to enjoy the meetings and the area around Salt Lake City.

Salt Lake City Temple:

The Christus in the North Visitor's Center:

Relief Society Bell. I can't believe I haven't seen this before. To celebrate 100 years of Relief Society, the then current Relief Society presidency brought this bell (that hung in the Nauvoo Temple) to Salt Lake and had a memorial built. LOVED this!

The Assembly Hall. This was where most of our meetings began and ended!

Picture of us to prove that we were there! Waiting to go in The Assembly Hall one day. (Scott and I are horrible picture takers...this picture was one out of 10...and it's still rough!)

The Joseph Smith Memorial Building. We ate a catered lunch in here both days. It was delicious!

The Church Office Building. We spent most of our days in here. We had special clearance to go up to the 9th floor. It was cool!

The last couple weeks have been an emotional roller coaster! We have been slowly initiated into the next chapter. I am scared to begin it, but Scott and I both know we have been led to this path. We know from the past that when we are obedient and push forward, blessings ensue.

We have loved Rexburg. When we drive away this Thursday, I know my heart will ache with the realization that this chapter is ending. But the chapter to come will be blessing filled. I know it!

Love You!

We tell Macey about 500 times a day that we love her. Yesterday she started mimicking us back! SO cute! We really do love this little girl! :)

Sick Babes

When Scott and I got married, his dad gave me one piece of advice: It's Scott. Never be without insurance. And we haven't been...until Scott graduated. He had insurance through BYU-Idaho, so graduating from there terminates that insurance!

Scott does have a job, but insurance doesn't begin until May 16th. That means there was a 5 week lull between graduation and new insurance. And what happens? Well, let me tell you! He has gotten hurt more without insurance, than with insurance!

The night before my birthday, Scott insisted on decorating the family room...without me. He was hanging crate paper when he fell off a chair. He didn't tell me it happened until the next day...when his leg started to bruise and his back started to hurt.

His back pain became worse and worse. He was taking a steady dose of tylenol and using pain patches on his back. We finally decided to head to the urgent care.

Now, you have to understand, Scott can endure pain very well. I knew when he complained, that something must be wrong. In fact, Scott couldn't even put on his socks and shoes to go to the urgent care. It hurt that badly to bend down.

We went and spend $100 for a doctor to basically tell us that, "Yes, Scott did pull a muscle, and no, nothing can be done". He gave us a prescription for muscle relaxers and sent us home. Scott loaded up on tylenol, Ibuprofen, and muscle relaxers, and he was out for several hours.

It has taken time (and miracle Tylenol rub). (If you have any aches and pains...ask me about tylenol rub. Seriously.) Scott is back to normal! Thank goodness! (It's hard being the only one who can bathe Macey, put Macey in the car seat, take Macey out of the car seat, pick her up off the ground, chase her around, etc.)

Sick baby number 2. I think I have pretty much sworn off Utah. Every time we go down there, Macey gets sick. I'm not sure how it happens...maybe there is something in the water? We went down a couple weeks ago, and Macey came home with a cold.

Two weeks later, we headed back down to Utah, and she was still sick. Macey didn't seem to be improving, so we took her to urgent care in Orem. (But Idaho Medicaid doesn't work in Utah...so insurance wouldn't cover the visit.) Macey was absolutely miserable by Saturday night, so we decided to just go!

We waited in the waiting room of the urgent care for 2 hours. It was horrible. The doctor said that she didn't have an ear infection, but he would prescribe her some antibiotics. She was running a fever, so he was sure she had some kind of infection.

Oh, the worst part is yet to come.

The next morning, after the antibiotics, we woke up to diarrhea everywhere. Gross. It was horrible. It happened the following 3 mornings as well. (It was a symptom of the antibiotics.) Well, Tuesday she woke up with a rash all over her stomach, back, up to her neck, and down into her diaper area. We brought her to her pediatrician. She had an allergic reaction to amoxicillin.

Three days later, the rash is fading, and her digestive habits have returned to normal. Thank goodness!

The moral of this story? May 16th can't come soon enough! We are one of those families that will need to be on insurance for the rest of their lives. I will excitedly sign the insurance papers in a week and a half. :)

Best Friends

Yes, that's right, our little girl loves this furry, orange/pink Dr. Suess character. Out of ALL of her stuffed animals, this is her favorite. I don't understand her love. When she sees Wocket, she goes crazy!! If she is far away from him, she will flip onto her knees and start crawling!

My 24th Birthday

Oh 24, you make me sound so old! I still feel like I am 16, driving around town in my Mazda 626, in high school, going on dates, not worried about anything...then again...24 year old me would know that driving around town costs money in gas. And 24 year old me has a few more cares than that. :) Okay, maybe I'm feeling 24!

Macey, after opening presents!

I had a wonderful birthday (last Thursday :) ). Scott decorated for my birthday the night before, and we opened up presents that morning. After opening presents, Scott took me out to breakfast! We went to Paradise Donuts in town (one of our favorite spots)! We used our starving student card, and only spent a couple dollars.

These two are twins! They do things just alike, and in this case, they do them at the same time!

We spent the day shopping :) and walked around the park. That night for dinner, we got dressed up and went to Gringos for dinner. Yum! (Oh, and check out my hot dates!)

(Oh, and every time we go out to eat with Macey, she is given crayons and a menu. Really? She looks bigger, but really? This is generally what happens to the menu...after screaming because we won't give it to her... :) )

After dinner, we came back to the apartment for cake--angel food cake with berries and a pineapple/cool whip frosting--YUM! (Oh, and for the first time, ever, I was able to blow all the candles out in one blow! Woohoo!)
