35 Weeks

Another pregnancy update! I'm 35 weeks and 1 day pregnant...but who is counting?! This pregnancy has actually gone by super fast! (That's what you get when you move, try to find a house, have a summer vacation, buy a house, move in, raise/run after a toddler, set up home and get ready for a baby.) I have arrived at the uncomfortable part of pregnancy. I ache a lot, and I'm tired a lot!

It has been an interesting last couple of weeks of pregnancy. My pregnancy with Macey was fairly uneventful. She just always measured bigger than normal, but she was just a normal sized baby for us. :) After the last couple of weeks...I choose uneventful!

I am to the point in pregnancy where I have doctor's appointments every week. The week before Thanksgiving, my urine had protein in it. The doctor asked if I had eaten any high protein meals...and in the previous 24 hours, I had only had lunch meat (probably not the best diet for baby)! He looked at my charts, and my blood pressure has been up and down. So...we were keeping our eye on blood pressure now.

I came back from Thanksgiving with some kind of stomach flu. Oh, it was terrible! I couldn't even keep water in me. In 37 hours, I had lost everything in my stomach 31 times. Scott went to work on Monday. I thought I could handle it on my own, but I started to black out, was dizzy and short of breath. Scott found a sub and came home. My doctor was on call in ER that afternoon. They had me go see him at the hospital. I was very dehydrated, so they put me in a room, started saline, and began to monitor Cooper.

We were at the hospital for 3 hours. Scott was so patient and watched Macey the entire time. The saline solution worked miracles! By the time it was done, I didn't feel like I was living in a cloud! The only bad news about the IV is the battle wound it left. Evidently, my dehydrated veins had a hard time with the IV! This is four days post IV:

After monitoring the baby for an hour and half and determining that he is okay, the nurse told us that he was breech. With the size of the baby, and how quickly he is growing, it's difficult to change his position at this point in pregnancy. The doctor said he would check me out at my appointment this week.

Today was my appointment! I had to do the routine Strep B test...so fun, and then the doctor was going to monitor my blood pressure and check out Cooper's position.

My blood pressure was 145/82 when I got there. They made me lay on the table in the back for 20 minutes, and then they took it again. My blood pressure went down to 115/70, and there wasn't any protein in my urine this time. The doctor felt comfortable with blood pressure for the week!

The doctor pushed really hard on my stomach to determine the position of the baby. He said that he was almost positive that the baby was head down, but he thought that the baby was face up, instead of face down. At my appointment next week, he is going to feel again, and if there is any doubt, then I get to go to the hospital for a quick ultrasound to determine if the baby is in the right position. Fingers crossed that baby moves before next Thursday!

Other than the huge updates, Cooper is perfect. He is measuring a little ahead, his heartbeat is perfect, and he has actually dropped a little bit.

The doctor reminded me today that he will be full term in 13 days. Can you believe that?! Hopefully he stays in a little longer! We are so excited for him to be a part of our family...we just have a lot to do before he comes!

Uh Oh!

A couple weeks ago, Macey started saying "Uh oh". I have no idea where she learned it from, but she is pretty cute when she does it!

Seussical The Musical

Last weekend was South Sevier High School's performance of "Seussical The Musical". It was fantastic! I was a part of drama in high school, and I think a piece of my heart will always reside in the high school musical art departments!

I'll be honest: I knew nothing about "Seussical The Musical" until we went to see it. Macey loves Dr. Seuss books and shows, so I figured this would be a hit...and it totally was! We had to have a milk and fruit snack break, but she was such a good girl for it being 9:00 at night!

(Also, way to go SSHS! They did a wonderful job, and I loved every minute of the musical!)

 

 

Macey went crazy at the curtain call! She started dancing and clapping. This video is a little rough, but you can see her reaction!

Mischief

Macey keeps us on our toes. There are many times when I shake my head and wonder how in the world I am going to do this with two kids. (This is actually a daily occurence).

Macey is fast. Really fast! I see her going to do something mischievious, and by the time I get to her, the act is mostly done. For the sake of my blogging public, I have held back this week with the camera...to share a few michievious moments!

A couple weeks ago, Macey became REALLY intriguied with the air vents. She soon discovered that she could fit little pieces of paper, pictures, recipe cards, magnents, and credit cards into these slots.

If I catch her, I'll say her name and hurry over to her. She knows she isn't supposed to do it, so she gut laughs and works faster!

As much as the mischief drives me crazy, the mischief makes me love this girl even more!

Cleaning out everything in the drawers and cupboards in the master bathroom:

There are two vent hot spots. This is one of them! Here she is sticking paper in the vent, dad unscrewing the vent, and what we found. The first time we unscrewed the vent, it was to collect all my credit cards...that disappeared. :)

Macey has the entire alphabet and tons on number magnets on our fridge. One day while making dinner, I thought it looked like some were missing. It wasn't until they were almost gone that I figured out where they had gone... :)

 

First Snow

Last Saturday, we had our first snow! It was wonderful! Scott was home, so we all got to enjoy the snow together. Macey has, obviously, seen snow before (you can't avoid snow when you live in Idaho), but now she is old enough to enjoy it!

After she was bundled up, we brought her outside, and she took off running. She was gut laughing the entire time. She fell quite a bit, but luckily, mom was there to help her up! (She had a lot of layers on, and she had a hard time picking herself back up! :) ) The only problem was that she loved the snow so much, that she wouldn't look at the camera very often! We only lasted about 30 minutes outside, but after watching Macey play, I'm already looking forward to the next snow!

YEAH!

I have written about how excited Macey gets when she says "yeah!". Here is a video to prove it's true! She is this excited about everything...I love it!

Election Day

Oh, Election Day. I am so grateful you are over! We have political opinions, but neither Scott nor I feel the need to jump into the arena and flaunt our political colors. Don't get me wrong, we feel that others can exercise their first amendment rights to be vocal about their political affiliations, but we prefer to exercise our rights quietly. :)

When it comes to politics, we have steered clear of the social networking world. My eyes automatically skip over political rants, and I don't feel like less of a person for admitting that. :)

Scott and I knew that we wanted to watch the election coverage that night. (I have this weird obsession with watching the states light up on the screen. Probably that visual learner in me...) He mentioned to me that morning that we should make sugar cookies and watch the election happen.

Sugar cookies are hard. They just take a lot of work. While they are Scott's favorite cookies, I don't make them very often. So when Macey and I were bored that afternoon, I thought, "Why not?"

Macey had never cooked anything with me before, so I had to record her cuteness! I didn't know how attentive a 16 month old would be, but she really liked it! After 10 minutes, she had had enough, but we had an awesome 10 minutes together!

When I lifted Macey on to the chair, she sat right down! Then, she realized she couldn't see anything, and she soon asked to be lifted to her feet. When she saw the dough laid out and the cookie cutters, she took each cookie cutter and carefully laid them on the dough. She didn't cut the shapes out, but she laid them out where they were supposed to be. :)

After 10 minutes, she hopped down. Later, she asked to get back up. I put her in her high chair to cut out cookies, and she wasn't sure what to do...as you can see below :)

After all that hard work, the best part was enjoying them! Macey can attest to that. Oh, and I have this rule that it isn't a cookie unless it has chocolate in it...so the cookies got chocolate frosting! Yum!

(I had elephant cookie cutters...but no donkeys. Shocker. I guess donkeys aren't on the list of animals to include in a pack of cookie cutters!)

 

Inside the Shed

When we bought this house, we knew the inside of the house needed minimal work, but the outside (including the shed) is where most of our time would be spent! We spent two Saturdays roofing and pulling together the outside of the shed. Now it was time to work on the inside. That's what Saturdays are for, right? :)

The inside of the shed was a total mess. I think I mentioned before that the previous six owners left all their stuff out there. We pulled out all the trash and extra junk, and we had a huge bonfire in the backyard! (We waited until November 1st...when the burn days began.)

Last Saturday, Scott woke up at 6:00 AM, and he went out back to dig a huge hole. He piled all the junk in the hole (raked all the dead branches and brush into the pile), and we burned it when Macey went down for her nap. Scott maned the hose, and I lit the piles...I'm pretty sure I had more fun! :)

When we moved in, there were also cedar posts put randomly across our backyard. They were just in the middle of the property. They were only 4 feet tall, but we found a pile of leftover cedar posts...which were 8 feet tall. Yep, they were buried under ground 4 feet. Scott tried digging and chopping all of them up, but cedar is incredibly hard wood. One of his students suggested burning them out...which is what they do. He dug holes around the posts, and we lit those on fire as well.

As far as burning goes, it was a successful day!

After the burning...and some lunch, Scott headed back out to the shed for the rest of the afternoon. He swept out his shed, organized some things, and pulled out the BLACK insulation from the shed. Yep, black. We have no idea how long the insulation had been in there or why it was black, but we decided that it needed to go!

I bought Scott some masks. He wore long pants, long sleeves, a hood, and gloves. He was only able to get two walls done, but the rest will soon be gone!

Scott was exhausted by the time he was done, but it looks amazing!

He came in to spend some much needed time with Macey. He promised her the night before that they would watch a football game together. Well, the football game lasted five minutes. Scott had to change the channel to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Macey hopped down from the couch, pulled her bean bag chair to the TV, and said, "Dad", while pointing to the chair. Scott put her on her chair, and she was happy drinking her milk until the episode was over.

Don't worry Scott, a boy is on the way!
